What is a syllable?

A syllable is a word or part of a word with one vowel sound!

Closed Syllable

What is a closed syllable?

Remember: A closed syllable is when the vowel is closed in by a consonant and the vowel is short.

First, we think - Is it a syllable? Then code the vowel and decide which kind of syllable it is!

Open Syllable

What is an open syllable?

An open syllable is when the syllable ends with a vowel and the vowel is long!

VCe

What is a VCe (vowel consonant "e") syllable?

A VCe syllable is when the vowel is followed by a consonant and silent e AND the vowel is long.

Vowel Team

What is a vowel team syllable?

A vowel team syllable is when two vowels come together to make 1 (long vowel) sound.
